FINANCING

Mediabiz specializes in international fundraising, creating mechanisms and financial structures for the entertainment industry. Since 2000, Mediabiz has participated in the financial structuring of over USD 3 billion of production volumes.

PRODUCTION

Founded in 2009, the production division is the result of a decade of synergistic strategic alliances between Mediabiz and its international partners. Its mission is to acquire, co-finance, and carry out the development and production of quality international TV, theatrical, and multiplatform products for worldwide distribution (animation and live action).

 

Description

Reporting directly to the President, the Controller will join a dynamic team led by experienced leaders for whom entrepreneurship, creativity, and innovation are second nature.

 

Main Responsibilities

  • Prepare and present the company’s monthly and annual financial statements to the management team
  • Coordinate and supervise various accounting operations, such as the recording and reconciliation of intercos and other strategic expenses related to the company’s operations.
  • Supervise and assist in the preparation of budgets and budget revisions to ensure efficient monitoring of the various projects and all other elements of the financial statements
  • Support project teams in budget tracking
  • Implement management information and other analyses to support management decisions
  • Proactively implement continuous improvement projects concerning internal practices and processes
  • Participate in the development and maintenance of best practices, policies, and rigorous internal controls
  • Any other related tasks in support of senior management’s strategic objectives

 

Required Qualifications

Education

  • University degree in finance or accounting
  • Recognized accounting designation (an asset)

Professional Experience

  • Minimum 3-5 years of relevant experience
  • Experience in an SME or accounting firm serving this type of client
  • Experience in entertainment or audiovisual production (an important asset)

Competencies

  • Experience in project-based accounting in a multi-company context
  • Good understanding of cash management, cash flow, and intercos
  • Knowledge of tax credits (an asset)
  • Good command of Excel and experience with Sage (an asset)
  • Bilingualism
