Sierra Floral Distribution is Canada's largest importer and distributor of fresh-cut flowers. We are currently seeking a temporary Intermediate Accountant to join our team. The primary objective of this position is to provide direct support to the Director of Finance by preparing reports and analyses relevant to the effective management of the company.
Responsibilities
Accounts Payable:
Code, verify, and enter supplier invoices into Acomba
Issue cheques and prepare electronic transfers according to required payment terms, then submits them for signature
Send electronic payment details by email
Review supplier statements and ensures all invoices have been received
Prepare and make bank deposits and mail cheques
Perform any other related tasks
Accounts Receivable:
Prepare and make bank deposits
Enter customer payments into Acomba, verify coding, and communicates with the Sales team when issues arise.
Create new customer accounts in the system
Processe credit card payments
Review accounts based on payment terms and follow the collection procedure
Month-End:
Participate in the month-end closing process
Perform bank reconciliations
Prepare journal entries for accounts payable and accounts receivable
Perform analysis and reconciliations of certain general ledger accounts
Assist with physical inventory counts
Prepare various reports
Perform any other related tasks
Education and Professional Experience
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or equivalent.
7-10 years of experience in accounting, in accounts payable and receivable management.
Good understanding of the month-end closing process.
Skills and Requirements
Strong organizational skills (multitasking), ability to prioritize, and meet deadlines.
Attention to detail and quality.
Ability to demonstrate dynamism, proactivity, and teamwork.
Bilingualism essential (French and English (written and spoken) because our clients and suppliers are both French- and English-speaking).
Excellent knowledge of Excel (including pivot tables, vlookups, etc)
