Description

This new role will lead three operationally connected businesses in the areas of Wealth, Investments, and Capital Markets. The person will transform and simplify the organization’s Wealth and Investments Management capabilities to better serve internal and external customers.

The three operationally connected businesses:

1. Develop and grow the organization’s commitment to Wealth and Investment Management, building from existing capabilities within the bank, accessing the bank’s Financial Advisors and Private Bankers, and a broad wealth management client base.

2. Synthesize and reinvigorate the Bank’s meaningful presence in Carrying Broker/Institutional Services, which services independent brokers and advisors across Canada.

3. Support the Bank’s successful Capital Markets business, focused on Fixed Income and Foreign Exchange, with strength in front-end trading and an integrated business model with the Bank’s Commercial banking group.

 

Main Responsibilities

Leadership & Strategy:

  • Provide visionary leadership and strategic direction for the Wealth, Institutional, and Capital Markets divisions. Align the divisions’ goals with the overall business strategy of the Bank.
  • Drive strong operations to support revenue growth and profitability across the three divisions.

Sales and Client Experience:

  • Build and maintain a strong client experience model to service clients of all divisions.
  • Manage the client experience across the three divisions to optimize satisfaction through structure review, operating models, and targeted investments.
  • Foster strong relationships with key partners and stakeholders.

Compliance & Risk Management:

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies related to investment products and services.
  • Implement a robust risk management framework to identify and mitigate risks associated with the bank’s investment activities.

Team Management:

  • Build and manage a high-performing team of business leaders, investment professionals, and mid and back-office personnel.
  • Foster a culture of excellence, collaboration, and innovation within the team.

Market Analysis & Insights:

  • Stay abreast of market trends, competitor offerings, and regulatory changes.
  • Analyze market trends and provide insights to clients and the organization.

Financial Performance:

  • Oversee the financial performance of the investment product offering, ensuring it meets profitability targets.
  • Prepare and deliver performance reports, presentations, and updates to senior management and the investment committee.

 

Required Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, business administration, or a related field
  • MBA or relevant certifications (e.g., CFA, CFP) (an asset)
  • Partners, Directors & Senior Officers course (PDO)

Professional Experience

  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in wealth and investment management, or related financial services
  • Minimum of 7 years in a leadership role

Skills

  • Strong understanding of investment strategies and financial markets
  • Bilingualism (French and English), written and spoken
