Controller – Manufacturing Accounting
You are already a controller and wish to continue your development in a structured manufacturing environment? Or you are currently in a deputy controller role and feel ready to take the next step? This opportunity may suit both profiles. We are looking for an accounting professional who wants to take on a controller role while evolving in an organization where they can rely on the expertise and collaboration of several experienced professionals in accounting and finance.
Why consider this opportunity?
You will join a structured manufacturing organization where the finance function is well established and where collaboration between different accounting teams is part of daily life. You will have the necessary space to take on your responsibilities while being able to exchange ideas with other controllers, CPA professionals, and financial management.
Your mission
You will be responsible for the financial and accounting monitoring of your unit and will actively contribute to the quality of financial information as well as the understanding of operational performance. Beyond the production of figures, your role will lead you to analyze, explain, and use them to support management decisions.
Your main responsibilities
Accounting and financial information:
- Supervise and ensure the quality of accounting activities;
- Actively participate in month-end closing and the preparation of financial information;
- Perform necessary analyses to explain results and variances;
- Ensure the accuracy and reliability of financial data.
Analysis and understanding of operations:
- Develop a good understanding of activities and their financial impacts;
- Analyze various performance indicators and cost structures;
- Collaborate with operational teams to better understand results;
- Contribute to the improvement of accounting processes and practices.
Collaboration and advisory role:
- Work closely with other finance and accounting professionals;
- Support managers in understanding financial information;
- Participate in various projects and initiatives related to the evolution of the finance function.
The desired profile
We are open to two types of backgrounds:
- You are already a controller and wish to join an organization where you can continue to develop your expertise; or
- You are a deputy controller, senior accounting analyst, or accounting professional and have gained enough experience to take on a first controller role.
Essential:
- Strong knowledge of financial accounting;
- Relevant experience that allows comfort with month-end closing, results analysis, and various responsibilities related to the controller function;
- Good analytical skills and interest in understanding operations;
- Ability to work collaboratively with different stakeholders;
- Autonomy, rigor, and desire to take on more responsibilities.
Assets:
- Experience gained in a manufacturing environment;
- CPA designation or related professional path.
Conditions and environment
- Permanent full-time position, 40 hours per week;
- Work environment primarily in-person in Lévis;
- Flexibility regarding arrival time;
- Closed, windowed, and quiet office;
- Four weeks of vacation;
- RRSP with employer contribution;
- Group insurance with employer participation;
- Health management account;
- Telemedicine and employee assistance program;
- Two mobile/sick days;
- Social activities and collaborative team environment.
What distinguishes this opportunity
You will not be isolated in your role. You will evolve within a finance function where several experienced professionals, including CPAs and other controllers, can share their expertise. A particularly interesting structure for someone who wants to fully take their place as a controller while continuing to learn. This is therefore an opportunity to consolidate already acquired experience as a controller as well as to make a thoughtful and supported transition to this level of responsibility.
