Description of the business: We are a well-established Boucherville manufacturing company that provides motorsport enthusiasts with the ultimate driving experience for their vehicle. We produce and distribute premium shock absorbers for motorcycles, ATVs and snowmobiles. We also manufacture shock absorbers for trucks and for military applications.

Job Description: Under the supervision of the Vice-President-General Manager, the Controller provides complete and quality financial information regarding all financial transactions of the company in accordance with applicable rules and standards. It supports operations in budget control objectives, develops and implements control measures to measure and improve the financial efficiency of the organization. He will be responsible for a team of three people, ie the accountant, the bookkeeper, and the administrative assistant.

Profile Wanted: We are looking for someone who wants to actively participate in the development of the company in a growth context. The person sought must be proactive and propose significant improvement solutions in the implementation of tools allowing the automation of processes, the improvement of gross and net margins according to the established plan, and also, in terms of the company's performance in the use and valuation of data (business intelligence).

Key Responsibilities:

Team Management:

  • Supervise the work of people under his responsibility (accountant, bookkeeper, administrative assistant)
  • Evaluate performance, develop skills and improve team efficiency

Budget:

  • Develop annual budgets and track them
  • Prepare operating budgets monthly and perform periodic monitoring
  • Coordinate the budget process of the company
  • Consolidate information into a coherent working document
  • Produce quality budgets in a timely manner
  • Evaluate the profitability of potential projects

Production of financial information:

  • Present, analyze and explain budget discrepancies monthly
  • Prepare and distribute monthly financial statements and sales reports (EDC / OEM)
  • Prepare tax and file documents for external auditors
  • Cooperate with the external auditors and provide them with quality information

Management Information:

  • Perform and present analyzes to help manage and control costs
  • Maintain cash flow movements
  • Participate in financing negotiation
  • Identify and raise any cost and budget control issues
  • Evaluate and control payroll based on the order book
  • Check the general state of the inventory, establish the age of stocks and obsolescence

Internal controls:

  • Analyze work methods and procedures and ensure that they comply with the basic principles of internal controls
  • Review transactions to identify control and authorization gaps
  • Complete the annual audits as prescribed by the external auditors

Requestsexternal:

  • Produce various government reports (training, grants, R & D credits, etc.)
  • Proceed to NAFTA customs analysis
  • Track claims on customs duties and associated fees

Qualifications required:

  • Bachelor of Business Administration (or equivalent education)
  • Hold a CPA accounting title
  • 5 to 10 years of experience in accounting (at least 3 years as financial controller)
  • Significant experience in an SME working in the manufacturing sector is an asset
  • Knowledge of Asian sourcing strategies
  • Knowledge of exchange rate strategies
  • Fluency in oral and written English
  • Mastering the Office Suite (Excel: Advanced Level)
  • Knowledge of accounting system and ERP system (Genius Accounting)
  • Strong analytical skills, critical and synthesis skills, rigor and integrity
  • Proactivity, a sense of entrepreneurship, results-oriented
  • Ease to adapt to changes, flexible and able to work under pressure
