This role sits within Laurentian Bank, a subsidiary of Laurentian Bank Financial Group.The AVP, Financial Markets Support manages and oversees the Financial Markets Support (FMS) team that is responsible for supporting Treasury and Capital Markets operations that include SWIFT payments, Fixed Income, Foreign Exchange, and Derivatives transactions. The AVP is also responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable regulations, and that appropriate controls and processes are in place to reduce operational risk. The AVP manages external relationships such as with industry bodies like Payments Canada and counterparties/clearers like Credit Suisse, bank of America and CDS.


º Manages the SWIFT payments operations for the Bank.º Responsible to ensure that Fixed Income, Foreign Exchange and Derivatives transactions are confirmed and settled without error for Corporate Treasury, Commercial and Institutional customers. º Ensures Nostro and G/L accounts are reconciled and balanced. º Ensures that applicable P&L reporting is generated on time, is accurate and reconciled with the Bank's G/L.º Ensures that all FMS processes and controls are documented and effectively executed to reduce operational risk.º Ensures compliance to applicable internal policies and government regulations including Payments Canada, OSFI, FINTRAC and CDIC rules.º Manages key counterparty relationships with nostro agents/clearers such as Credit Suisse, Bank of America and CDS.º Leads the resolution of any FMS issues, including day to day trouble shooting related to Payments or other supported transactions.º Develops a client centric culture within the FMS team to ensure that client requests/issues are resolved in a timely fashion.º Actively participates on Operational and Regulatory Risk Committees.º Actively participates in new product or system launches that impact FMS.º Provide strategic advice and evaluates the impact of new policies/regulations/projects to provide recommendations to senior management.º Leads FMS related projects and initiatives that could impact the Bank's profitability and efficiency. º Mentors, trains and develops the FMS team. º Acts as a subject matter expert on FMS activities on internal/external committees and industry forums. º Stays aware of market trends and changes in regulations to ensure that FMS activities follow Best Market Practices.


º University degree in Business, Finance or related fields. º Minimum of 10 years of experience, with at least 3 years in a management role. º Professional Accounting or Financial certification such as CFA/CPA/CA would be an asset.º Experience in managing Treasury Payments and Settlementsº Experience with SWIFT and other Treasury systems for booking of Fixed Income, Derivatives, Foreign Exchange and Equity tradesº Experience with FINTRAC/Anti Money Laundering rules and regulations Specific skills:º Bilingualism (English and French) is an assetº Strong communication and inter-personal skillsº Strong analytical and financial skillsº Ability to build relationships and partnerships internally and externally.º Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently. º Ability to stay calm under pressure.º Strong communication and presentations skills including the ability to explain complex concepts.º Strong computer skills (MS Office and Database languages such as SQL) with programming knowledge an asset
